February Training – Digital Symposium Lightning Talk at Iowa State University

I am thrilled to share that I will be presenting a lightning talk about my contributions to the project “Inclusive Communications for Student Organizations” at Iowa State University! For this reason, I will be focusing my February training on developing the necessary skills for a successful delivery of a lightning talk.

During this month, I learned about the outline and structure of a lightning talk. I understand how to manage the sequence of a lightning talk and present all the main points to the audience in a limited amount of time. I researched tips for public speaking, and I learned about the differences between a lightning talk and an informative speech. Lightning talks must get to the point very quickly, and the points to address must be straightforward. There is little room to details, which can be expanded during the Q&A section. I am very excited about my participation in the Digital Humanities Symposium and all the incredible knowledge I will gain through this experience!
