January Training

Hello! This is the start of a new year and also the beginning of my final semester at Grinnell. This is also my last semester as a Vivero Fellow! As the end of my journey as a digital humanities scholar at Grinnell approaches, I want to take the time to reflect on the digital skills I will focus on this semester to refine and become more proficient in.

One of the skills I will be working to refine during this semester is WordPress. I have been learning more about Elementor and the different features that it provides to enhance the usability of a site. I believe in the power of storytelling through engaging visuals, and I believe that honing my abilities in Elementor will not only give me better skills for the site of my year-long project with Vivero called “Inclusive Communications for Student Organizations”, but will also allow me to develop my personal site, or portfolio in a more organized and comprehensive way.

Something else that I really want to focus on this semester is in developing accessible practices in the development of websites. Since the purpose of the site of my year-long project with Vivero focuses on accessibility, I want to enhance my understanding of accessible practices in the sites I develop. In order to do this, I will be researching how to make a website accessible, and what are the considerations I should take into account when making an accessible website. I am really looking forward to learning different skills to make websites professional and accessible this semester!
